Behind the songs

   Hey everyone! As we all know our favorite small town boy Riley Green won New Male artist of the year but still finds ways to stick to his roots and never stray too far from what he knows. In early September, Billboards conducted a "20 Questions" interview with Riley, where they talk about what his songs mean to him and how he always wants to stay himself and not let the industry change him. 

Better Than Me

    In this interview he talks about how many of the songs that he releases has deeper meanings than just the lyrics and if you listen closely you can understand them. In his new song "Better Than Me" that appears on his new EP he included an artist that nobody really knows of on the track. He asked Alabamas Randy Owens to colab with him on the track. There relationship started when Riley Green was attending Jacksonville State where Randy Owens also went. The first time they sung together was a relief concert when the tornado hit. From there they kept a relationship ever since. Having him on this track was a tribute to Randy Owens and to show Owens that Riley will never forget where he came from and he wants to keep honoring Randy Owens in him music and life style.     Another song that pays tribute to a celebrity is "Behind The Times" Which references Ronald Reagan in his early times. In the interview he did with Billboards he said that the song is about how people learned from different generations. Green also said that he learned many of his values from this granddad and he doesn't think that many young people take advice from older people anymore. There is something to say about this. Now a days you see many artists or celebrities getting into scandles, whether it be about what they post on social media, where they party, or songs that have a meaning that got taken the wrong way. Green prides himself in being wholesome and in love with the outdoors. He commented on the song "Behind The Times" and said that the thinks older generations lived in a much simpler way and that is what he tries to embrace every day.
